Is God calling you to a higher level of ministry? Pause and think about that question for a moment... Some of you are currently involved in the music ministry at Western Hills. Some have been in the past, but have not been active recently, and some have never participated at all. Take a moment to ponder what a special ministry music can be.

It takes a special talent, desire and calling to be involved in the music ministry. You have to be called to bettering yourself as a musician for the Glory of God. You have to be committed -- rehearsals, participation in worship, teamwork, group bonding, and spiritual growth are all integral parts of the music ministry. Parents, you have the added responsibility of transportation coordination. Being a part of the music ministry is very rewarding. Friendships are forged and spirits are lifted, both those of the ensemble members and those who hear their shared music! Minds and hearts of both young and old are challenged by the unique gift of music. And nowhere is teamwork more crucial to the success of a ministry!

Our music ministries are important because they are a vital part of our worship, which in turn is crucial to the life of our Christian community. Without music, how would we accent the Word? How could we share more deeply in the mystery of Holy Communion or speak so uniquely to those in the congregation? How could we praise the Lord in such a special way? What would we miss in reinforcing lessons learned in study and discipleship?

I pray wholeheartedly that you will ponder these questions. Some of you will make a new commitment, some of you will continue a long-standing one. Whichever the case may be, please take the time to look over the many wonderful musical groups and opportunities with which we are blessed at Western Hills. Pray earnestly about your involvement, or your child’s involvement, in one or more of them.
